Nqobile Mfazwe (18) is a self-made businesswoman from Vosloorus. Even though her business is still small, she believes that everything has a start in life and has a positive outlook as to how things will unfold for her in the near future. Nqobile decided to started her business in January 2019 and things have been steadily growing .
I am someone who likes to stand on my own two feet, rather than having to depend on someone to get things done. “I draw inspiration from making a success of things and trusting myself that It’s possible, despite any challenges I may encounter,” she said.
A student from Vosloorus comprehensive secondary school has something to look forward to when going home after school, which is her business. She mentions that her business helps when it comes to essentials at home. “I am able to help whenever I can and also getting lunch money without having to ask my mom,” she said.
As with any business, challenges are bound to occur at some point. Nqobile’s main challenge is her competitor, who operates close to her. She adds, “I have decided not to let my competitor to pose as a threat, in fact it gives me the urge to do better and find ways to boost my business. What I like is the fact that we both hustle in our own ways, and there is no one who stands on a way of the other.”
Nqobile gets the support that she needs from about +20 customers a day, most of her customers are kids as she sells snacks and sweets. She added popcorns as time goes and her business grew. She says” my mom is also helpful when it comes to running the business, as I cant be available all the time.
Nqobile shares her views “small businesses are often overlooked, not everyone supports us because take us and business for granted.”
Expanding her business is one of her future plans. “I would like to expand my business and make improvements such as having gazebo,furniture around and adding some items on the things I sell and so on,” she said.
