SNACK FC CROWNED RED BULL KASI CUP 2019 CHAMPS

On Saturday 29 September 2019, a skilled young squad from Thokoza fought hard through two prolific rounds of classic kasi football to triumph as Red Bull Kasi Cup champions at Dorothy Nyembe Park in Soweto following a 4 - 3 penalty shootout win against River Park FC.

The event was the first edition of Red Bull Kasi Cup - a tournament aimed at giving talented kasi footballers an extraordinary opportunity to showcase their natural ability and football skills. Other participating teams included Masokorala FC representing Mamelodi and Zak Park FC from Soweto.

Red Bull Kasi Cup ambassador and South African Professional Football Midfielder, Siphiwe Tshabalala was on hand to spot talent: "I am honored to be part of an initiative contributing to the development of kasi football. I was impressed to see such raw talent at the tournament which reminded me of the early stages of my football career where it was just about passion and

hunger to play at a higher level. All the teams demonstrated great teamwork and were determined to lift the trophy," said Tshabalala.Top players recognised at the tournament include Thabo Mphuti from River Park FC, who was named Player of the Tournament, while Thabang Mokoena from

Snack FC was outstanding in the final game and walked away with Man of the Match. The man who saved the most goals, Nkosinathi Ntuli came from Snack FC and was named Goalkeeper of the Tournament."We have been preparing for this moment. The team worked very hard to ensure

that they bring the trophy home. We are grateful to have a platform like Red Bull Kasi Cup to expose our players and allowing them to showcase their skills in the field of play," says Snack FC coach, Kaizer Kobile.
