5 DAYS JOINT OPERATION THAT INVOLVED EMPD, SAPS AND PRIVATE SECURITY CORPORATIONS YIELDS ARRESTS

The EMPD wearing plain clothes and Specialized Task Team Members responded to a call on Tuesday (15 Oct), about a parked sedan with three (3) suspicious male occupants just before midday in Alberton area, corner of Ring road west and 7th avenue. Upon investigations, the sedan was reported stolen and the trio between the ages of 30 and 49 were previously convicted with murder on the SAPS wanted list for attempted murder, common robbery plus robbery with firearm in Alberton and Soshanguve. One of them also have a murder case pending. They were handcuffed and handed over, at the Alberton police station.




On Wednesday (2 Oct) a white Hyundai i10 was reported hijacked/robbed, on Handel street in Kempton Park West. The motor vehicle was recovered the following day in Tembisa area,Endulwini section and two (2) suspects were arrest. The hunt was on for the duo aged 28 and 39, who were also on the SAPS wanted list for two (2) counts of attempted murder, two (2) counts of 'pointing of firearm' and hijackings around Norkem Park area. One of the suspects (28yr old) ran out of luck on Wednesday (16 Oct), when he was cornered and caught at 3:00 am, in his hiding place. He was marched to the Norkem Park Client Service Centre, as an accomplice to the Handel street hijacking. The suspect was left in capable hands of the SAPS Members.




In collaboration with one of the well-known motor vehicles tracker company, EMPD team (STT) were led by the signal repeating in Johannesburg area, at Jeppestown where the chop shop was uncovered. The male Nigerian national was found in the building on that holy Wednesday the 16th, showed Officers a clean pair of heels and Data Dot experts with SAPS Members specializing in stolen & recovered motor vehicles, were summoned to the crime scene. Officers found lots of stripped motor vehicle parts including 2x VW Polo headlights (reported stolen in Randburg this month), 1x Toyota Etios gearbox (reported stolen in Brixton, June this year), 1x VW gearbox casing (reported stolen in Florida, June this year), VW Polo, engine, gearbox and loose parts (reported stolen in Honeydew this month). Boysens SAPS Members took over the scene. Meanwhile just before midday, the team patrolling Edenvale area, came across a white Bentley sedan with a personalized registration/number plate, on the R25 road by Greenstone shopping complex, that didn't correspond with the disc/clearance certificate, before the male driver in his late 30's preferred to be escorted to the Sandringham police station, since he was onced hijacked/robbed off his previous motor vehicle. The SAPS Members took over and thoroughly went through the motor vehicle.



A lookout came on 2 way radio,hursday (17 Oct) just before 5:00 a.m in Clayville area, of a stolen Toyota Hilux 4X4 Light Delivery Vehicle. Officers jumped into action and tracked the 4X4 to Main road where the tracker unit/device was found stripped and thrown in the nearby veld. The dedicated Team Members persisted with a lookout checking hot spots and at 5:40, the abandoned bakkie with false registration/number plates, was spotted next to Clayville extension 45 block of flats. SAPS Forensic experts attended and took over the scene.




Between Thursday (17) and Friday (18 Oct), reacting to house robbery complains in Norkem Park area, the EMPD STT, other Law Enforcement Agencies and SAPS Members burned the midnight oil and due to high visibility, there were two (2) failed house robbery's/breaking, on Thursday the 17th. Acting on a tip off, on Thursday between 2 a.m and 5.am, the group moved to an informal settlement in Tembisa (Vusimuzi) and at Ethafeni section where five (5) male suspects between the ages of 28 and 37, were found with unaccounted 2x flat screens televisions, more than fifteen (15) wrist watches, four (4) cell phones, few bank cards, baseballs caps and a necklace, positively identified as stolen/robbed following spades of house robberies/breakings in and around Norkem Park area. All five male suspects from Mozambique, were detained at Norkem Park police station on house robberies, possession of suspected stolen items and murder charges. They were expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate's Court on Monday the 21st.




On Saturday (19 Oct) just after 15h00 in Eden Park area, following on information received, the EMPD Specialised Task Team, Fox Security personnel, SAPS Members with Detectives and Magma Rapid Response, arrested a Nigerian national with x20 blocks of khat measured at 2505 grams valued at R150 000 was confiscated. The place where the drug was found, the age of the suspect, the police station and the Magistrate's Court will soon be revealed, since other arrests are imminent and due to this case being of a sensitive nature.
