Yesterday (13 Aug) around 13h00, EMPD officers from the Specialized Task Team Unit were alerted by officials of a REN vehicle tracking company that they were in pursuit of a stolen blue Hyundai sedan. The metro police joined in the stakeout where the Elantra with false registration/number plates parked outside the paint shop company, was approached by a male suspect before the capture.
The 33-year old male deemed to be a driver, who claimed that he borrowed the Hyundai from a friend, was confronted and arrested at the corner of London and Main Pretoria road, in Bramley. Upon thorough investigations, police learned that the sedan was stolen in a house robbery sometime last month, in Edenvale area.
The suspect was taken to Aeroton police station and charged with possession of a stolen/robbed motor vehicle. He is expected to appear at the Alexandra Magistrate's Court soon. Bramley/Aeroton SAPS members, impounded the recovered Hyundai to their yard, for further investigations.
