ANC Ekurhuleni Caucus' Deputy Chief Whip Cllr Ebrahim Motara together with the Ward 92 councillor candidate Harold Thomas joined the senior citizens for breakfast at Kruinhof Village, Elandsfontein on Thursday(03 October 2019).ANC Caucus pampered the pensioners with a well-cooked breakfast, whilst others were visited in their houses .
The pensioners morning was filled with happiness and they had an opportunity to raise some service delivery issues as tenants.
An 80-year-old pensioner Martha Skeerpers expressed her excitement and thanked the ANC Caucus in the City of Ekurhuleni for visiting them.
"It is for the first time that we receive a visit from any political party. I am very happy that the ANC government has visited us and we can now confidently say our issues will be heard. Thank you for the delicious breakfast too," Mrs Skeerpers who has been staying for 12 years at the village said.
Deputy Chief Whip use the opportunity to introduce the ward 92 councillor candidate to the pensioners.
"A councillor that we bring in is from this ward, and lives amongst you. As we introduce the ward 92-councillor candidate Harold Thomas, if given an opportunity, he will be expected to call monthly meetings and assist address all service delivery issues in the ward by file a service to the office chief whip about all the issues that are raised in the community.
A report is then given to the City's Executive to address them, but most importantly, a ward councillor must always be available to his/her constituency," the pensioners cheered on as Cllr Motara introduced the ward councillor candidate.
The residents of ward 92 will be casting their votes in the by-elections on the 23 October 2019. The by-elections are of a result of a DA ward councilors' resignation in the ward.
