The City of Ekurhuleni's community swimming pools are ready to welcome patrons for the beginning of the swimming season, which is set to kick-start on Sunday, 01 September 2019.
The Spring/Summer season brings with it the need to deep into a crystal clean pool for a splish splash. As such, the city' pools have been rehabilitated and renovated while others are being built from scratch to prepare for the swimming season.
In April 2019, Executive Mayor Cllr Mzwandile Masina officially handed over a beautiful swimming pool to the community of Eden Park; meanwhile the Duduza swimming pool is still under construction.
The city has resolved to keep designated community pools opened for the upcoming festive season. All pools will be closed for the December holidays on 25; 26 December and 1 January, no leave days will be approved for any pool staff during this period.
Ekurhuleni has three types of pool categories with different facilities.
Category A boasts indoor heated swimming pool and is an arena for competitive swimming competitions while category B pools are mainly outdoor pools with grand stands and category C pools are standard with basic amenities.
