Yesterday (21 May) between 10am and 20h00 in Katlehong, Alrode and Palmridge areas, the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department SWAT, STT and DEU Members arrested five (5) male suspects found with narcotics, for inconsiderate driving and a reported stolen sedan was recovered, in the southern region of Ekurhuleni.
In Katlehong area at 10:00, the SWAT Team (Intervention unit) arrested an undocumented Mozambique national, driving a black VW Polo hatch back in his 30’s, for reckless and negligent driving with resisting an arrest, after he failed to stop when instructed to do so, before he crashed into a wall fencing a house, on Senoni street in Palima section. The 5 door VW with a Lesotho registration/number plates, is suspected to be robbed and Katlehong SAPS members, where the suspect is detained, are investigating further. At 17h30 in Palmridge extension 5 on Mhlanga street, patrolling Drug Enforcement Unit Members arrested four (4) suspects between the ages of 23 and 27, after 36x pokes and 1x ziplock of dagga, 10x full, 1x half and 3x quarters of mandrax tablets, 8x knotted plastics of nyaope valued at R3000 and R1772,20, were confiscated following body searches. They were escorted to Eden Park police station and charged with, possession and dealing in illicit substances. In Alrode area at 19h30, the Specialized Task Team recovered a reported stolen silver Datsun GO, abandoned on Old Vereeniging road. It is believed that at 19h15, a certain house was robbed valuables in Meyerton area and the sedan, was used as a getaway vehicle/car. The SAPS fingerprint section was summoned and the Datsun GO, was impounded to Van Ryn’s Deep in Benoni, for safekeeping. All five (5) arrested suspects, are expected to appear in the Palmridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
