FIVE OFFENDERS NABBED FOR EXCESSIVE SPEED INCLUDING THE DRUG PEDDLER - IN ALBERTON AND BOKSBURG AREA

Between Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 December 2019, the EMPD Speed and Drug Enforcement Units, conducted festive season operations and four (4) drivers found speeding excessively, with one (1) suspect caught with narcotics, were handcuffed.

Yesterday (21 Dec) at 06:00 in Dinwiddie area, on the N3 freeway direction south between Grey avenue on ramp and Heidelberg off ramp, EMPD Speed Enforcement Unit Officers stopped and arrested the 34-year old male in a white BMW sedan, for doing 164 instead of 120km/h. Between 09:00 and 11:00 in Alberton area, three (3) motorists flying on Hennie Alberts road between Hart and Michelle, were halted and apprehended, for failing to comply with the 60km/h speed limit. At 09:40, the 30-year old male driving an orange Fiat Uno Turbo with no reason to speed, was arrested for clocking 144km/h, on that stretch of road. Amongst the arrested male drivers, there was a 30-year old female driving the silver KIA Rio, who cited that she was late for an appointment, when stopped for registering 111km/h. The third (3rd) nabbed 48-year old driver, in a silver Range Rover SUV, was taken in for doing 102km/h. All four (4) suspects arrested for excessive speeding, were booked at Alberton police station. They are facing charges of reckless and negligent driving.

On Sunday (22 Dec) at 09:15 in Boksburg area, the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit Squad on crime prevention operation, stopped and body searched a suspicious looking 42-year old male, found walking on Trichardts road by the Blue Sky informal settlement, before Officers uncovered 8x quarter, 10x halves, 3x full mandrax tablets valued at R1280 and R60 cash. The arrested suspect, was marched to Boksburg police station. He is charged with possession and possible dealing in illicit substance.

All the arrestees, are expected to appear in front of the Palmridge and Boksburg Magistrate's Court/s soon
