Friday (04 Oct) just before 8:00 in the morning, patrolling EMPD Officers from Daveyton precinct arrested a suspect and the reported robbed sedan was recovered, in one of the informal settlements.
Eye hawked Metro Police Officers monitoring their two way radio when a look out of a robbed motor vehicle was given, spotted and cornered a blue/green Chevrolet Aveo with two (2) male occupants, on Mphephetho road by the Zwakala informal settlement, at Putfontein. When the passenger saw Metro Police closing in, he alight the moving vehicle and disappeared within shacks without a trace, leaving the driver in his 30's behind. The sedan was tested and Officers learned that it was robbed yesterday from the owner, by assailants armed with dangerous weapons.
The suspect was handcuffed and taken to the Putfontein police station where he is facing a charge for possession of a robbed motor vehicle. He will appear at the Benoni Magistrate's Court soon.
Police are hot on the heels of the suspect who abandoned the Chevy because, the caught driver alleges that the sedan belongs to him.
