ILLICIT SMOKES TO THE VALUE OF R150,000 CONFISCATED IN JOZI ,ONE SUSPECT IS NABBED

Acting on a tip off, the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit Members raided a business place on South Rand road in Rozettenville and illicit smokes valued at R150 000 were uncovered. The building was visited yesterday (16 Sept) at 15h00 and the 30-year old male suspect found sorting five hundred and fifty (550) different brands of cigarettes cartons, was apprehended. A trader who failed to produce a receipt as proof of purchase, was handcuffed and taken to Moffatview police station where a charge of possession and dealing in illicit cigarettes was registered. The suspect is expected to appear in the relevant Magistrate’s Court soon.
