An alleged khat dealer was arrested on Monday, 05 August when he was found in possession of khat at New Modder in Benoni. The suspect was apprehended following a tip off from members of the New Modder community.
The EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) responded when information was received and managed to handcuff a Nigerian national male found in possession of khat valued at R1,200. The arrest was effected at 10h16 on Edgar Street.
The arrested 29yr old was detained at Benoni police station on charges of possession and dealing in narcotics. He is expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrate's Court soon.
