THE EMPD SWAT TEAM RECOVERS FIVE REPORTED STOLEN BAKKIES IN A CHOP SHOP - A BUSINESS OWNER NABBED

Five (5) reported stolen Light Delivery Vehicles (LDV's), carcasses and chassis worth R1 000 000, which were once Toyota Hilux's with case numbers registered in Edenvale, Parkview, Randburg and Honeydew police stations, were recovered by the EMPD SWAT (Intervention) Unit Members in Johannesburg area and the male alleged business owner, was handcuffed.

On (18 Mar) at 11:30 while attending a session in Johannesburg area, the EMPD SWAT Unit Members received a GPS coordinates from Netstar vehicle tracking company, about a stolen Toyota Corolla sedan, repeating in one of the buildings, on Barbara road. Officers responded swiftly and the 46-year old Zambian national found on the premises claiming to be a liable owner, was arrested after the Squad uncovered an active tracking device (of the stolen Toyota Corolla sedan) on the building and five (5) shells of Toyota Hilux bakkies. The search is on for the missing Toyota Corolla sedan. Possession of stolen motor vehicles case, was registered against the apprehended suspect, at the Johannesburg Central police station.

Arrangements in conjunction with Johannesburg SAPS were made, to move the five (5) recovered vehicles to the SAPS pound, at Aeroton yard. The suspect will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates' Court soon.
