Itumeleng Sefala (24) from Lifateng section, Tembisa is a model and a contestant for the second annual Empress South Africa contest. She said,I hope to be the next crowned beauty pageant. Itumeleng entered a beauty pageant competition earlier this year and the contest is called, Empress South Africa, which is all about women empowering and promotes growth in different aspects of life. Itumeleng was attracted to the contest since it is about woman empowerment. She always see issues happening around concerning woman, so she thought this could be a chance for her to answer a calling of helping women in particular since it’s about empowering. She said, since i joined this competition it helped me grow as an individual ,and it gave me the platform to do more for my community and province. I have been doing charity events whereby the community donates clothes and blankets and we give them away to the needy, already we have reached out to three different orphanage homes in Tembisa, Midrand and Mabopane” She says. Itumeleng is also doing public speaking on substance abuse dialogue, which is about trying to find ways to reduce substance abuse in communities. She made it as a semi-finalist, but she still have a long way to go and would like to do more for communities or province as a whole. Itumeleng is also a motofind ambassador, which is a vehicle listing services helping consumers to buy and sell their cars for free on the platform. Her supreme majesty, Tsepo Makupu who won the competition last year has been a true inspiration to her, she says. Her family is supportive and encouraging her all the way. Itumeleng’s dream has always been to make positive change in communities around her, and Empress South Africa is giving her all the platform/ guidance she needs.
