Yesterday (15 Sept) between 14h00 and 23h00, the EMPD Kwa-Thema Precinct Officers embarked on an intensive special operation aimed at eradicating drunk driving on our roads and adjoining areas, to avert accidents and road rages. Seventeen (17) intoxicated motorists, had to spend the night behind bars, for having one too many.
The roadblock was staged at the corner of Thema and Majola, to stop and arrest those found drunk behind the steering wheel.
All the seventeen (17) arrested drivers were detained at Kwa-Thema police station where charges of driving while under the influence of alcohol were registered. They are expected to appear in the Springs Magistrate's Court soon.
