Acting on a tip off from a reliable source, the EMPD Specialized Task Team Officers moved to a plot in Etwatwa and abandoned stolen items were recovered. The raid took place just before 10:00 on Wednesday (28 Aug), on Breswol.
It is believed that at 1:30 in the early hours of the morning, more than six (6) male suspects overpowered three (3) patrolling Security personnel, who were on guard at Chris Hani by the corner of Mocke and Mahlangu, at the construction site. Attackers who were brandishing firearms, stole a TLB and the compactor before fleeing the crime scene. The three (3) guards were/are unscathed, no shots were fired and their robbed cellular phones, were left at the main entrance (inside the dustbin) by looters.
Currently, Detectives from the South African Police Service are trying to locate the owner of the plot, where robbed items and loose motor vehicle parts were found.
The TLB and the compactor were impounded to Van Ryns' Deep, for safe keeping
