Today (14 Aug) around 6:00 in Boksburg area, the EMPD Security & Loss Control Unit responded to a call of suspicious people on the veldt, digging a trench alongside Mainreef road.
When five (5) men in possession of picks and shovels sighted the Metro Police vehicle closing in, four (4) managed to evade an arrest by running away, leaving a 38-year old behind. The suspect was interrogated, before he took Officers to Angelo informal settlement where two (2) shacks were raided and the 30 meters electricity cable was uncovered. Two (2) accomplices in their late 30s, who were found on each hut were apprehended.
One of the limping suspect who didn't say much, received medical attention on site, after Officers noticed that he had a gunshot wound on his leg. All three (3) suspects who are expected to appear at the Boksburg Magistrate's Court soon, were taken to the Boksburg north police station and charged with possession of suspected stolen Municipal infrastructure (electricity cable). The hunt is on for other suspects and the 'how' was the other injured, will form part of ongoing investigations.
