Between the 17th and 20 June, four (male and the female) suspects were arrested for cable theft and dealing in narcotics, by the EMPD Drug Enforcement and Anti-Cable Theft Units.
On Wednesday (17 June) at 07:30am, three (3) male private Security personnel (contracted in the City of Ekurhuleni) between the ages of 41 and 53, deployed at the main Stores in Springs area, were apprehended by the EMPD Anti-Cable Theft Unit Members, 30 minutes after giving their control room operator, false information at 06:55. The trio alleged that unknown armed suspects pointed them with firearms, while stealing a 9 meters copper cable valued at R3000. Following thorough investigations and going through CCTV cameras, the EMPD Team noticed that the threesome, were the main culprits. A charge of perjury was registered against them, at the Springs police station. The stolen cable, was recovered in the nearby veldt.
During a crime prevention operation in Villa Lisa area at 11:30 on Saturday the 20th, the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit Members arrested a 40-year old woman, found with 5x ziplocks of crystal myth, 14x half mandrax tablets, 19x ziplocks of khat, 45x ziplocks and 1x loose plastic bag containing dagga valued at R7700 and R300 cash, on Mustard road. The handcuffed lady, facing charges of possession and dealing in illicit substance, was marched to Dawn Park police station.
All the arrested four (4), are expected to appear in Springs and Vosloorus Magistrate’s Court/s soon.
