THREE PISTOLS SEIZED AND TWO NABBED FOR TEMPERING WITH NUMBER PLATES IN TEMBISA

On th Friday (06 Sept) just after 17h00 in Tembisa area, patrolling EMPD Specialized Task Team Unit members cornered and managed to arrest two (2) suspects, found fiddling with registration plates of a hired silver Mercedes Benz sedan, at Esangweni section.

Two (2) male suspects who were outside the German make, attempting to exchange original registration/number plates displayed on the Merc, ran to different directions when they spotted EMPD Officers closing in, leaving behind two (2) male occupants who are 32 and 35 years of age. One of the suspects arrested, has a pending case of ‘possession of unlicensed firearm’ registered in Attregville police station. The sedan hired from a car rental place in Pomona/Kempton Park, was thoroughly searched and Police recovered a bag containing x1 cellular phone, x3 9mm pistols with serial numbers tempered with and x22 live rounds. Two (2) false registration/number plates were also confiscated.

The apprehended pair were taken to the Tembisa police station and charged with possession of unlicensed firearms with ammunition, including that of tempering with registration plates of a motor vehicle. They will appear at the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon and the hunt is on for two (2) suspects who evaded the arrest, by showing Metro Police Officers a clean pair of heels.

The uncovered Mercedes Benz C-class, was impounded to SAPS Van Ryn’s Deep for safe keeping
