Between Thursday(26 Sept) afternoon and Friday(27 Sept) just before 11:00, the EMPD Specialized Task Team Unit members recovered 2x reported stolen/hijacked motor vehicles (the Nissan NP 200 and a Renault Sandero) in Primrose and Tembisa. Three (3) male suspects alleged to have cloned and sold one of the recovered Isuzu Light Delivery Vehicle hijacked in Lebowakgomo, were nabbed in Palmridge, Greenfield and Tsietsi (Katlehong).
Thursday (26 september) Tembisa area, patrolling members of the Specialized Team came across an abandoned white Nissan NP 200, at Motsu section. The Light Delivery Vehicle with a broken ignition and damaged door locks was tested and Officers learned that, the bakkie was stolen in the early hours that morning, in Primrose area.While waiting for fingerprints from the South African Police Service, following the recovery of the Nissan, Officers were tipped off about a suspected cloned white Isuzu Light Delivery Vehicle, travelling in Katlehong area. The Unit responded swiftly and the bakkie driven by a 25-year old male with a false registration/number plate and fake clearance certificate/disc was cornered in Tsietsi section. He alleged that he paid R10 000 for the KB 250 and the balance owed to 2x salesmen is R25 000. The duo who are 43 and 50 years of age, were visited and found in Greenfield plus Palmridge. It was later revealed that the Isuzu was hijacked in Lebowakgomo, sometime in July this year. The trio were taken to the Eden Park police station and charged with possession of a hijacked/robbed motor vehicle. The suspects will appear in the Palmridge Magistrate’s Court soon.Today at 07:00 in Tembisa area, the EMPD Team drove into a suspicious white Renault Sandero parked in the middle of the roadway, at Isekelo section. It is believed that the hatch back was robbed/hijacked from the owner by 2x armed thieves on the drive way at 4am, in Sophiatown.
All uncovered motor vehicles (white Nissan NP 200, white Isuzu KB250 and the white Renault Sandero) were impounded to SAPS Van Ryn’s Deep for safe keeping
