TIP OFF ACTED UPON LEADS TO AN ARREST OF A ZIMBABWEAN NATIONAL - OVER 200 EXPLOSIVES SEIZED

On the morning of Monday 19 August, the EMPD Tracing Unit members followed up on information from a source and apprehended a young female, found in possession of explosives. The arrest took place at 07:00 at a house on Akashakaruli street in Daveyton.

After the tip off was received around 6:30, the Tracing Unit members swooped in a house situated in Chief Luthuli where a 27yr old female Zimbabwean occupant, was found in possession of two (2) bags containing two hundred and fifteen (215) strippers of sticks explosives, before they were confiscated. The suspect alleged that what we exposed belonged to her husband. Attempts were made in locating the husband but, he is nowhere to be found.

The arrested suspect was locked up at Crystal Park police station and charged with possession of explosives, under the explosive Act. She is expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrate's Court soon.
