TWO SUSPECTS BEHIND BARS AT EDEN PARK FOR POSSESSION OF KHAT VALUED AT OVER R13,000

On the morning of Thursday, 27 June information received about drug dealing on Leyland Street at Eden Park was acted upon swiftly by the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit which resulted in the arrest of two suspects found in possession of khat.

On arrival at the address in Leyland Street the DEU members uncovered sixty-six (66) ziplocks of khat estimated to be worth R13,500 on the streets. The DEU members also came across cash amounting to R4,830 which they confiscated as it is believed to be proceeds from the illicit sales of narcotics. Two suspects -a man and a woman- were handcuffed.

The arrested pair, aged 26 and 46, was detained at Eden Park police station on charges of possession and dealing in narcotics. They are expected to appear in the Palmridge Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
