ANC CAUCUS WISHES THE CLASS OF 2019 THE BEST AND ENCOURAGE LEARNERS TO CHOOSE TVET COLLEGES

ANC Caucus in the City of Ekurhuleni is wishing the class of 2019 the best in their final examination. ANC Chief Whip Cllr Jongizizwe Dlabathi has encouraged the leaners to do well and to continue to work hard because education in their only gateway to bigger things.

Cllr Dlabathi was addressing members of the media on the sidelines during the INTEGRATED RAPID PUBLIC TRANSPORT NETWORK  (IRPTN) site inspection in Tembisa on Friday, 04 October 2019.

"We encourage learners to focus because every minute, every hour and every day is important for them. They must not despair on the basis that probably they were disturbed or did not cover some certain amount of work and seize the opportunity by passing their matric," ANC Ekurhuleni Chief Whip said.

ANC Chief Whip in Ekurhuleni also advised learners to consider making the country's TVET Colleges their preferred choice of institutions for training and studying."South Africa needs skills such as engineering, boiler making, construction and other technical skills; TVET colleges offer IT, Motor Mechanics, Process Plant Operation, Electrical Engineering and Casting (Foundry) courses and all other training that are required to develop the country's economy. We encourage our learners to equally consider TVET Colleges to accumulate skills so that they can either get employed or use those skills to employ themselves by starting their own businesses," Cllr Dlabathi said.

Meanwhile, as part of Caucus' community outreach programme, the office of the Chief Whip has adopted Tlakula High from Kwathema since 2017. The purpose of it is to assist the school through academic support to improve its matric performance in Mathematics, Science and Accounting.

ANC Caucus will host Tlakula Sport and Academic awards at Tlakula High on 11 October 2019. The award ceremony aims to recognize and encourage teachers for their starling contribution in education and learners for their outstanding performances in academics and sport in year 2019.

ANC Caucus will also take 172 Grade 11 learners to Ekurhuleni East College (Kwathema Campus) as part of educational tour to expose them to technical and vocational skills training offered by the institution.

"We strongly believe by ensuring that more young people are educated and have acquired necessary skills, that will benefit the municipality and youngster's families through knowledge and skills they learn. They would then be empowered," he concluded.
