The ANC Caucus in Ekurhuleni has noted with great concern a number of unfounded accusations against Councillors around the distribution of food parcels.
We want to re-state it that ANC Ward Councillors are NOT involved in the distribution parcels coming from the National or Provincial Department of Social Development, nor from the Ekurhuleni Covid-19 Food Bank.
Ours is to ensure oversight and on the same note, ANC Councillors are encouraged to assist on their private and personal capacity, where it is critically necessary. ANC Ekurhuleni Caucus reiterates its support and commends the Executive Mayor Cllr Mzwandile Masina and his collective for the responsive action on the establishment of Ekurhuleni Covid-19 Food Bank. The food bank must continue to prioritise the most needy households and thus far, we are satisfied with the manner in which the Foodbank has been operating. As pronounced by the Executive Mayor, the Ekurhuleni Covid-19 Food bank is a single distribution point and we further urge business, organised formations and any other individuals to make their contribution by donating to the Foodbank. ANC Ekurhuleni Caucus would also like express its gratitude to all, individuals, NGOs, Churches and businesses for their noble gesture and support this far. “Our commitment to good governance and clean administration is a standing commitment"
