EFF EKURHULENI STATEMENT ON THE CLOSING DOWN OF DUDUZA CLINIC FOLLOWING THE POSITIVETEST OF COVID-1

The EFF in Ekurhuleni welcomes the speedy intervention of the municipality to close down Duduza Clinic with immediate effect and the dispatching of mobile clinics to the community of Duduza following the positive test in COVID-19 in one of the nurses.

The closing down of the clinic is to allow the disinfection of the building and its surroundings following the positive test for COVID-19. The nurse is one of the many citizens of the country who came into contact with the virus at a church breakfast gathering in Bloemfontein held on the 10th March 2020. Our people are advised to call the Corona Virus hotline on 0800029999 with any suspected cases of corona so as to attain medical assistance immediately. We re-iterate our call as the movement that ,beyond this pandemic, clinics must operate for 24 hours and offer quality, free healthcare and that the well being and safety of our health workers should be prioritized at all times. We salute all our health workers who are under extreme pressure in these trying times but carry out their duties with high level of professionalism and care. We further wish our nurse a speedy recovery and call on all citizens of Ekurhuleni to remain calm and to further stay at home and minimise their travelling during this lock down as we fight to defeat this virus.
