Estimated combined R218 Million PowerBall and Powerball PLUS Jackpots up for grabs

This Tuesday, 21 April 2020, the total estimated value of PowerBall and PowerBall PLUS jackpots draws are at a staggering R218 Million, the biggest thus far in 2020. The jackpot for PowerBall is estimated at R123 Million after 21 rollovers and a record R95 Million for PowerBall PLUS after 36 rollovers.

Should the PowerBall jackpot be hit this Tuesday by a single player, the lucky person will become the biggest winner for 2020 and the fourth-highest jackpot winner since ITHUBA took over as the National Lottery operator in 2015. The biggest PowerBall jackpot thus far for 2020 was won in February by a single player in Roodepoort when she won R114,580,902.70 after spending R5 on the winning ticket. ITHUBA has implemented several measures, in support of the Government’s plans to deal with the coronavirus, aimed at safeguarding our players. “We are continuously encouraging our players to opt for playing their favourite National Lottery games online. Our Mobile App is easily downloadable on all smartphones and available for download on our website and the App Store (IOS). Players can also play on our up-to-date National Lottery website, and the digital channels of our banking partners namely Absa, FNB, Standard Bank and Nedbank.”, says Busisiwe Msizi, Head of Corporate Relations at ITHUBA. Since lockdown, there has been a significant increase of new players opting to play online bringing the total number of registered players to over 870 000. “As the operator of the country’s favourite game, we are excited to be able to offer lifechanging jackpots like these, even amidst the uncertainty the country is facing in the fight against COVID-19. The prospect of being able to change someone’s life in the times we are living in is truly fulfilling and this is what ITHUBA set out to do when they were awarded the license in 2015 – to change the lives of ordinary citizens for the better. The winners will receive financial advice and trauma counseling which the National Lottery offers to winners of R50 000 and above, at no cost to the winner” adds Msizi. All National Lottery players are urged to safeguard their winning tickets until they can claim their after lockdown. ITHUBA offices remain closed during the lockdown period andplayers should not be anxious as all winning tickets have a life-span of 365 days before they expire.
