HOD welcomes new shift managers Ekurhuleni promotes from within

City of Ekurhuleni promoted nineteen firefighters to the shift managers positions. This team that comprise of eight female officers will lead different fire stations across the City. All the promoted fire fighters were given new rank markings and welcomed for to their new roles by the Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) Head of Department, Sam Sibande, Emergency Services Divisional head Mhlengi Makhubalo and Operational Manager Lifty Ngoepe this morning.Sibande highlighted the importance of being a dedicated and passionate fire fighter to the newly appointed managers. He urged them to keep their focus to their line of duty. The entire assemblage resonated commitment and dedication in their new role. “We will hit the ground running and immediately add more value in the service” echoed Puleng Xoki one of the shift managers.Makhubalo placed the rank marking to individuals as a symbol of leadership in their new endeavour. These promotions are in line with the City’s vision to empower its employees, especially women in its work force.

On 01 August this year, the City Manager, Dr Imogen Mashazi call on the women in uniform to take advantage of the City vision of empowerment to equip themselves academically and professionally. Dr Mashazi was speaking during the Women in uniform gala dinner and awards ceremony that was held in Alberton Civic Centre. This was to honour women who walk an extra mile to serve the people of Ekurhuleni.
