By:Meshack Phooko Jennifer Motsai from Rondebult,Ekurhuleni took the lead in athletic politics at the amateurish level.This was after Motsai was unanimously elected as chairperson of the Vosloorus-based, Lesedi Athletic Club at the annual general meeting held in Vosloorus recently.This amateur development athletic was formed in 1989 and has been running under the auspices of Central Gauteng Athletics in Germiston.It was a great and delighted moment for Motsai who became the first female chairperson to take the leadership role since the formation of the team 30 years ago.In an interview with Ekurhuleni News(Meshack Khotha), Motsai did not hide her excitement about the new role ahead of her ,“which goes hand in hand with immense responsibility.” “A chairperson key role is to lead effectively and I am quite aware that leadership comes with a host of challenges. But in order to lead effectively, you need to be able to work together with other members of the executive committee as a unit. “In this regard, everybody has to pull up the socks ensuring that development take place, ” said Motsai, who is still active in the sporting code. Other executive members are: Enos Maleke (vice-chairman), Zwido Mathabathe (secretary), Mpho Ratsane (vice-secretary), Peter Ntloge (treasurer), Kwena Phooko (vice treasurer) and Linda Ladlokova (PRO).
