More personalities join the TelkomFam to connect South Africans

Telkom has today announced a strategic partnership with a number radio personalities. In an announcement event hosted in Johannesburg, Telkom underscored this partnership as an extension of their brand purpose to ‘leave no man behind’ - connecting South African's to a better life - by educating them on the different types of technology and Telkom's affordable propositions.

On its mission to connect homes across South Africa, Telkom partnered with radio personalities from stations such as; Ligwalagwala FM, Ukhozi FM, Umhlobo Wenene FM, Motsweding FM, Munghana Lonene FM and Lesedi FM.

Personalities involved in the partnership includes Dumisane Simelane, Brian Rikhotso, Seipati “Twasa” Seoke, Thuso Motaung, Dudu Khoza, Selby Mkhize, Sisanda Phiwe Nozewu, Amon Mokoena, Zizo Tshwete and the current ambassador, Moshe Ndiki.

“Telkom has been connecting people for the last century and therefore we need to take all South African along on this new technological journey. Telkom is on a mission to reclaim the home and continue being the brand that connects people to their potential through technology,” says Gugu Mthembu, Executive Brand and Product Segments at Telkom.

Speaking at the event, radio personality, Seipati “Twasa” Seoke, said what excites her about the brand is the whole idea of leaving no man behind. “I was once asked when I joined the station (Lesedi FM) that since I speak English so fluently why am I not on an English platform? Why are you on a Sesotho platform. And I said it’s because I want to be able to reach people in a language that speaks to their heart,” said Twasa.

“And for Telkom to come and partner with us to speak to our people in a language they can understand it gives me an opportunity to, for instance, communicate about 4IR in a language they understand.”

Over the past few years, Telkom has invested in improving their infrastructure and product offerings; a move that has continued to boost the brand's presence across the country. Telkom now has an extensive footprint across the country; thanks in part to the improved coverage and roaming agreement with another mobile network operator to reach areas where Telkom has no coverage.

Telkom is about to remind South Africans what the brand is capable of and how we have remained at the forefront of advancing communication and access technology for South Africans. This partnership will assist Telkom to ensure every household in our country understands the value of being connected on Telkom’s affordable offering and bringing the brand promise to reality in their lives.,” adds Mthembu. •
