Christmas is time for giving; as such new mommies to bouncy babies born today received presents for their little ones. The City of Ekurhuleni's Members of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Community Services Cllr Nomadlozi Nkosi together with the senior City officials visited hospitals around the Ekurhuleni region to welcome and shower the newly born babies with essential baby goodies today, 25 December 2019. The newly born babies in Thelle Mogoerane Regional Hospital in Vosloorus, Far East Rand Hospital in Brakpan and Pholosong Hospital in Tsakane received their first gifts which included Ekurhuleni branded hampers, bath tubs, baby blankets and essential baby and mother products. Speaking to the mothers MMC Nkosi strongly emphasized the importance of breastfeeding and said, "Remember that mother's milk is the best, I urge you to breastfeed these babies until they are strong enough to eat solid foods, take them for their vaccinations and also remember to register their births before living the hospital." Far East Rand Hospital received 20 newborn babies, and Moria Kowanga (boy) was the first baby to be born at 00:01 AM.The delegation then proceeded to the Pholosong Hospital in Tsakane to hand over more gifts to the new babies and mommies.Lebohang Motaung (25) from Tsakane gave birth to a bouncy baby girl at 03:15am, at Pholosong Hospital. She said, "It feels good to be a mother to a healthy and beautiful baby girl. I am grateful to the nurses that assisted me to give birth and I appreciate the wonderful gesture from the City to welcome our babies with gifts. As for me, the baby bath tub will come very handy as I don't have one". To conclude the congratulatory hospital visits, MMC Nkosi went to Kwa-Thema Community Health Centre where two babies were born.
