ONCE BURNT TWICE SHY

The sleepless nights Lindiwe Mashigo suffered from her ex-husband prompted the start of a Woman’s Ministry that will help with counselling and prayers. Women of Daveyton, Ekurhuleni east of Jozi benefited as Lindiwe narrated the ordeal that led to the formation of her organisation.

Formed last year and launched on Saturday, Arise and Shine Ooh Women, came into being after Lindiwe witnessed many women abuses including her being abused, she said: “After seeing many disturbing and terrible things women faced in their relationships, the hurt they endured from their irate spouses because of their vulnerability. Something in me told me that one day I might change the face of my township through helping abused women,” she advocated.

Having been married to a very abusive man, the relationship was short because of the man’s bad temper. Therefore, after 5 years in the marriage that almost took her life through her ex-husband’s beatings and yelling every day, Lindiwe decided to leave that marriage, said she: “After the divorce I stayed single for quite some. But at church and in my community I live became active in tell other women who were going through what I went through that they can also survive that. I tell them that they would rather be called names than stay in horrible marriages that might end up taking their lives leaving children behind prone to suffering and still increases social the number of uncaring single parents.

“Thats what prompted me to decide engaging unmarried women to be careful, and learn to ask God through prayers to be given understanding spouses. “To those already married, I tell to ask God to change their men’s behaviour.” Lindiwe who is Pastor is happily married to Pastor Simon Mashigo, they a very adorable couple.
