The City's Finance and Economic Development Department held an Open Day at Royal School in Leopard Rest Security Estate, Alberton on Saturday, 24 August 2019 to assist residents with accounts and services queries. The City officials also assisted residents to register on, and to navigate, the new service payment system - Siyakhokha.
The upgraded service payment website has recorded new 79 165 customers.
Customers who were on the old website are urged to re-register to view, manage and pay their municipal accounts conveniently.
After registering on the website, users will also be able receive statements through an SMS, e-mail or view it online. Resident will also be able to view and monitor consumption of water and electricity. Service-related queries such as for water, roads and electricity can also be logged on through the website.
To date, the new website has been visited by 334 718 people and the number of linked municipal accounts is 124 670. The amount processed on the Siyakhokha website since it was launched is R51 204 835.
The platform was upgraded from the old website. The upgrades were necessitated by the need to align the platform with the digital city Ekurhuleni aspire to be, and will ultimately result in a service payment platform that is user-friendly and easily accessible.
The old website www.e-siyakhokha.co.za is no longer in use. Instead, customers will now have to log on to www.siyakhokha.ekurhuleni.gov.za and may call 011 999 5102 for queries.
A resident of Leopard Rest Security Estate, Mr Mxolisi Nchamane, who visited the Open Day said Siyakhokha will help him access his account statement timeously without relying on it being posted at the end of the month, and it will reduce the need to visit the customer care centre for assistance on accounts.
Pay your municipal account at the following outlets: Customer Care Centres, Spar, Banks, Pick n' Pay, Checkers, Pep Stores, Makro and Builders Warehouse.
