Gauteng Department of education (GDE) successfully held their annual Back2School Programme as the schools around South Africa re-opened on the 15 th of January 2020 for academic year.The Gauteng Department of Educacation (GDE) has established culture of early preparation to ensure that teaching and learning takes place on the first day of academic calendar.
Members of Executive Council (MECs) are deployed to various schools to conduct an oversight visit and monitor resources (e.g. Learner Support Material, Furniture), admissions, and learner and educator attendance etc, this exercise is undertaken on the first day of schooling.The cleaning compaign is on weekend that preceded the re-opening of schools with the schooling community. This would include SGB members, the mayor,Structures for Quality Teaching and Learning Campaign, learners and members of the community.
An educational Stakeholder Imbizo is then undertaken in the afternoon with the community members around the schools that have been visited. “We believe that grade R’s are the foundation phase, so they can’t be left out”The GDE keeps the tradition of a school re-opening back2school compaign for MECs as well as ensuring that the schools are ready on the first day . Pholong Secondary School, Tshepo Lesedi Pre-School, Thembalikazulu Primary school and Fred Hadebe Primary School were identified as a part of the #Back2School program in KwaThema,Springs.
“There is no child that can say I can’t go to school because I don’t have school shoes”. Ralehoko presents learners with school shoes to ensure they successfully step into the 2020 academic year.MEC proudly expresses knowing that the GDE has also provided back to school essentials for the learners. In addition we are excited about our partnership with different companies in private sector among others, they will also support the school with training services and material,Indeed we would like to thank all our partners for investing in children.The MMC for infrastructure Services Cllr Madihihlaba with Gauteng Finance MEC and head of the Department of e-Government, has called on ICT companies to step up efforts to up skill the learners in KwaThema, Springs.“If we fail to change the ducation landscape, we will never succeed in empowering our children with the necessary skills to improve our economy. It is important to invest in our children because they are our future.” Said MMC for infrastructure Services Cllr Madihihlaba.
Ralehoko shared the day,at Pholong Secondary School,emphasising the importance of education and requesting them to be more focused. In addition this is an all- encompassing vision to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry, we build the Gauteng economy that reflects the full diversity of our population and were the Secondary Schools thrive and prosper with Bachelor’s Degrees.
A vision whereby everyone has access to quality of healthcare, all residents in KwaThema have access to basic services and quality infrastructure, and women enjoy their rights from all forms of patriarchy. Yet another vision whereby the environment is protected and cared for. Therefore we
embarked on a tree planting ceremony at the above schools by Jacob Mamabolo, MMC Doctor
Xhakaza and the Gauteng MEC for finance Nkomo-Ralehoko to mark the beginnings of a new
academic year.
All human settlements promote social cohesion and integration, there is affordable and reliable high-
speed internet connectivity. There is efficient, reliable, safe, and affordable public transport, science,
technology and innovation support expansion of frontiers of human fulfilment and freedom.
MEC, says that she will make sure that learners receive nothing but the best modernisation of the
school curriculum, facilities and what is still to come in year 2020.
