Two Mountains has Become a Pillar of Strength to its Struggling Clients

By Thabang Rammutla Two Mountains funeral parlour is distributing food parcels amongst its strained customers as part of Nelson Mandela Commemoration which started on the 18th of July in Daveyton. With hunger affecting Millions of South Africans in this pandemic the funeral parlour has took it upon itself to contribute towards Mandela day by donating food parcels to its struggling clients.

The beneficiaries, Mr Duze and Mrs Rebecca Mkhwanazi are very pleased as recipients of the food parcels since it was very hard for them to make a living during lockdown as Mr Duze Mkhwanazi is self-employed. The Sole distributer of food parcels in Daveyton is the Sales Manager of Two Mountains Saxon Sangwene who told Ekurhuleni News that apart from this distribution they have been empowering their clients who have the means to provide catering equipment like Mr Mkhwanazi. “In areas where we do our burials we also empower the suppliers in those particular areas in terms of the supply of tents and toilets, and other essentials we don’t supply as Two Mountains.” Said Sangwene. However, due to government’s strict regulations, Mr Mkhwanazi was not receiving any means of business from Two Mountains since tents are currently not allowed at funerals. “In this time that we’re going through Mr Mkhwanazi’s business basically died because now the supply of tents and chairs is prohibited, that is why we are here today to give him a grocery to alleviate hunger in his family.” Sangwene explained.

Mr Mkhwanazi, confirmed that indeed he has been rendering some funeral services for Two Mountains and he is currently struggling to put food on the table since his services that earned him income are prohibited. “I have been providing services for Two Mountains, renting out tents for funeral services but now since tents are not allowed I have been struggling to provide for my family and since I have a policy with them they necessitated the means to provide us with food of which we are very grateful for.” Said Mr Mkhwanazi. Mrs Mkhwanazi was emotional about the Two Mountains gesture as it came as a surprise, she said, “we’re thankful that Two Mountains thought about us during this difficult time and we were not expecting all this, it shows that God will never forsake us.” Nonetheless, their gesture does not end with food parcels, Two Mountains also try to be involved in the communities they operate in by assisting where the funerals are concern.

“We understand that the pandemic has affected everybody, hence we try and assist our clients how we can and we also do donations in terms of funerals where community leaders come to us with requests to help bereaved families who cannot afford to bury their loved ones.” Sangwene concluded.
