In the wake of misinformation perpetuated by fake news phenomenon, residents are encouraged to get and distribute accurate information from the City’s website: www.ekurhuleni.gov.za and social media pages: Facebook and Twitter.
This is in addition to the other official sources of credible information such as the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) as well as the national and provincial departments of health.
According to the regulations aimed at containing the spread of the Covid-19, people can be imprisoned for six months or fined for spreading fake news about the virus.
